Portrait I shot of Boy/Friend and MNTN during a video shoot.
Boy/Friend plays his first show at The Fader Fort this weekend, I would not miss this one.
The 2nd video in a series of 6 videos I shot for Target during their NY fashion week just dropped today. In this episode we interview Petra Strand the founder of Pixi Beauty products. She oversaw the shows make-up programs and sheds some lights on the different style approaches they took. Enjoy.

As mentioned in this previous post, I got a chance to catch up with Mickey Singh a few days ago. Took some video and put together a short recap of the weekend.
Chedda aka Ali has been talking about 'Saves The Day' for pretty much as long as I've known him. Two nights ago they played a sold out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg where Ali jammed with them during their rehearsal as part of a Kickstarter package. Super cool way to give back to fans that invest in you and support you.
Anyhow, they had their after party at St. Vitus in Greenpoint, not too far from where I live. I met up with Ali, who was with Anna and Fatima, at this after party which to my surprise turned into a full on pop-punk show.
To be clear, I am not very familiar with Saves The Day and in no way do I consider myself a fan, but it's hard not to rock out to and appreciate a band at a two hour intimate, secret show, packed out with hardcore fans moshing around singing every lyric.
I get it now.
"Best god damn night ever" - Ali
I was asked by Glam Media to create a series of six video for Target at their NY Fashion Show. These videos document various back stage happening and will be released over the next few weeks. The first episode came out today and is a general recap of what was going on back stage. Enjoy, and if you like it please share.
I've been following Mickey Singh's career for a few years now - mainly because my good friend Rummi Khan manages him. I remember a few years back Rummi being really excited to tell me that he had discovered a super talented dude who sings in both English and Punjabi and has real potential to blow up. I had never seen Mickey perform so when they came to Connecticut as part of their tour we all planned to meet down there, watch the show and get rowdy.
Side note - if you are brown you probably know who Rummi Khan is, not because he is famous or anything (although he's getting there) but simply because he is super social and a connector within the South Asian community. Beyond that Rummi owns CMMNWLTH MGMT, a full service south asian artist management agency. He's been doing this for a minute and he knows his shit.
Mickeys been doing this for a few years but only recently did he drop his first mixtape, cleverly titled Mick's Tape. And honestly I stopped listening to urban/desi fusion music when old school Jay Sean and Juggy D stopped doing it. I guess I'll listen to a little bit of RDB here and there but I've mostly been disconnected. I'm not sure if that's because I've lost interest or there really hasn't been anyone good come out of the scene. Mick's Tape has a strong number of really dope tracks on it and if you haven't already, I'd give it a listen.
Rummi invited me down to UCONN to check out Mickey perform and I didn't really know what to expect. It's really hard to have perspective on how famous someone you personally know is and I wasn't really prepared to see him absolutely murder a venue full of brown kids, singing to his every lyric and vibing with him hard.
Also got a chance to meet DJ BornSwift aka Salman and his wife Anam who flew down from Chicago. Salman was rocking Vane shoes that I didn't even have, woof!
Here's some backstage action...
Bornswift and Asim Azhar, who is a new Pakistani singer CMMNWLTH just picked up - he opened for Mickey that night.
And of course after the party it's the hotel lobby party.

Jeff from Blind Barber hit me up about a new set of products he was releasing called The Regimen and wanted to create some content around it. The idea was to find a few characters with discipline and passion for their craft and follow them around documenting their regimen. I was in.
Our first profile was of Chris Algieri, an undefeated professional boxer based out in Long Island. We met Chris at his boxing gym and kicked it with him for the rest of the day, ending with him taking us back to his parents house (where he lives) and cooking his dinner with us.
A few days later we went to the Paramount out in LI to shoot the fight and support our boy. Jeff and I had no doubts that he would win and we were right.
Those of you who are familiar with my work know that lately my video work has been very event and brand based and though this video is for Blind Barber it's not a brand video - it's a story about one individuals dedication to his craft. I absolutely love opportunities where I get to explore other people's lives, to sit down with them and learn, and to gain yet another unique perspective.
Spending time with Chris enhanced my outlook on personal discipline and changed my mind about boxing. I am not big on sports, and rarely ever watch fights but after seeing my first fight ever from right outside the ring I gained a whole new appreciation for the sport. And am now a rooting for #teamalgieri.
This was the final product.
Ever year Fools Gold Records throws a big party/concert on labour day called the Day Off. Super fun event this year with performances by A-trak, Danny Brown, Just Blaze, ASAP Ferg and Rocky, Action Bronson, Migos and a bunch more people.
They invited me to shoot the event to have additional footage as part of their recap video. Here is the 3rd episode of SHORTIES compiled with some of the shots I took that day. Enjoy.
One of my first classes at ITP was Physical Computing. Some of my classmates came in with some knowledge of the subject but to me this was completely foreign. At this point I didn't even know how to connect an Arduino with a breadboard but this ended up being one of my favorite classes and got the most out of it.
For our midterm we were asked to create a media controller and after a few brainstorming session with my group members we came up with the idea to create a wearable that controlled basic DJ functions allowing the DJ to step away from the computer and to engage with the audience in a more performative way.
This was a fun idea but highly ambitious since no one in our group had any idea of how to accomplish this. This is the great thing about ITP, if anything it teaches you how to figure shit out and be an expert problem solver.
We got a jacket from Kmart and just went to town using a variety of different sensors, Max Msp, Arduino, Ableton Live and we were actually able to pull this off. Unfortunately at this point into ITP I was terrible at documenting my work and progress so I do not have much to show for this but I was able to put together a short video that demonstrates some of the basic functions of this wearable.
Let me know your thoughts. I really want to get back at it and create a 2nd version of this that can actually be used on stage.
